Our first workshop teaching The Business of Newborn Photography is a wrap. I can’t believe it’s over!! Brittany and I had such a wonderful time getting together and teaching 5 Amazing ladies all about Newborn Photography and the basics of the Business. We divided it up into 2 FULL days of non-stop Newborn action and crammed these girls heads full of information to help them take their business to the next level.
Day 1 was all about the Posing!!
We started bright and early Tuesday morning. Before the Parents got to our first session, we went over how to choose coordinating colors, textures, blankets and props to really make the images pop and stand out. We talked about how to work with the Parents and make them feel comfortable during the Session while achieving beautiful and timeless Portraits for them to treasure. We were able to photograph 3 Newborns and with the help of the attendees, we created Portraits that the parents are sure to love!!
As you look through these pictures, you will see all the products from our AMAZING list of Vendors that provided all the Props for our workshop!!

Without the help of these fabulous Businesses, the workshop wouldn’t have been as awesome as it was! I get the honor of working with all of them on a daily basis and I really think I’ve found the cream of the crop when it comes to the perfect props! All of these ladies are top notch and really care about quality and customer service. They each provide the best of the best and I’m so thankful that I can call each of them friends.
After all the babies left, the studio was cleaned, the laundry was started {and believe me… there was LOTS of laundry!!}, we headed up to my office and we showed them our editing workflow. A HUGE thanks to Greater than Gatsby Actions for providing such amazing, timesaving actions!! With their actions, I am able to cut my editing in half and provide more time in the studio cuddling more babies 🙂
Day 2 was all about the Business side of Newborn Photography with Brittany!
She covered EVERYTHING! From Pricing {which is ALWAYS a hard subject to talk about}, Goals, Marketing, Products, to Taxes it was all covered in her in-depth workbook that she put together for each of our Attendees. Lots and LOTS of note taking went on as these girls learned all about how to run a successful studio. Brittany took the time before the workshop to get to know each of the girls strength’s and weaknesses and was able to put together everything she needed to cover. This was a very personalized day full of learning and Brittany rocked it!
I’m so thankful for each of these girls trusting Brittany and I to help take their Photography Career to the next level! We all bonded from the start of the workshop and I now have 5 new girls to call friends. I’m so proud of them and can’t wait to watch their Photography business take off from all the information they learned!! It’s only been 2 weeks since the workshop and I’ve already seen vast improvement form each of them!!
Again, I just wanted to say an EXTRA Thank you to all the amazing Vendors that teamed up with us to help provide these girls with an unbelievable experience!!

Hi, Jessica! Could you explain your lighting set up here? I’m use an Alien Bee light with a Westcott 50″x50″ softbox. I’m just not getting the results I’m after. I like the continuous lighting you have on baby here. Could you please explain how you did that? Many thanks. Enjoy following your work!
