After years of being asked over and over to do Beauty Pageant Head shots, I finally caved and I am adding this to my list of available services!! Exciting right?? And I thought, who else to “practice” on… than my own flesh and blood beauty queen! 🙂
My sweet Addy was finally talked into doing Beauty Pageants by my sister…. and now I think she’s addicted! LOL. My sister has literally been begging me since Addy was old enough to jibber jabber, but my sweet baby girl has always been so shy, so I really didn’t want to push it. I mean… lets all think back to when Addy was in the Twinkle Tots group at Make Your Move dance studio, it’s recital day, family has come to the auditorium to watch her do this precious little dance… and the little squirt completely freaked out and wouldn’t even go on stage!! I’m talking months of prep time and dance classes, all for nothing.
This same little girl, finally caved and decided she would try pageants out. So we found her a gorgeous dress, I did her hair and makeup, bought her “Cinderella shoes” and everything…. and she ROCKED IT!!! She rocked the stage!! She literally looked like she had been doing pageants for years. Now I know I’m a little biased, and of course I think she’s the most perfect little girl out there, but seriously guys…. she was AMAZING!!! She walked just right, she turned just right… everything. was. perfect.
Lets back up just a week {because lets face it, I photographed all my clients head shots WEEKS AGO, and I wait until the night before the deadline to even take Addy’s pictures}, and talk about this Head shot photoshoot! So we tried on a Tuesday night. Apparently it was my fault it didn’t go as planned because I waited too late in the afternoon and she was as she likes to call it, “hangry” by this point. So the shoot lasted about 10 minutes and lets just say we both left the studio completely tore up and heart-broken that we didn’t get the pictures we wanted. So fast forward to the next night, and I decided as soon as she got home from school we were going to get her 1- FED, {because, who isn’t happier when they have food in their belly??} 2-hair and makeup done, and 3-it’s picture time! So we went to the studio and she said Mommy… can I help pose myself? In a desperate attempt to get ” the shot ” I said, sure. Let me do a pose, then you can do one…… I should have let her do all of them. She was so sassy and just natural at it. In fact, the one’s I like best are the one’s she did herself! I guess I can just see her little personality shining through them, so they mean even more 🙂
All in all, the pictures were taken, she received a Beauty Award trophy and we all left her first pageant with smiles on our faces. I would call that a win any day of the week!
I hope you enjoy these few Sneaks!
